​Mississippi State -16.5 vs. Memphis – 7:30PM ET – college football winner

  • The loss in line value (opened -12) is keeping us off this game as a rated wager but we still lean to the side of the Bulldogs.
  • Miss State was favored by 3-points at Memphis last year and lost 29-31 after a late game 2-point conversion failed. 
  • Mississippi State lost last year’s game despite outgaining the Tigers by 212 total yards. A fumble return for a touchdown and 94 yard punt return for a TD were the difference. 
  • The Bulldogs return a ton of their production from a year ago and rest assured they haven’t forgotten last year’s loss.

Today’s MLB free wager – Cole Irvin isn’t known as a strikeout pitcher with a 6.20 K/rate per 9 innings. On the season he has just 98 strikeouts in 142.3 innings of work or 4.26 per game. He is coming off an 11 K outing against Miami but the Marlins rank 8th in strikeouts on the season and 7th in the last 15 days. In his last ten starts he has two other higher strikeout games against the Angels and Rangers. The Angels strike out more than anyone in baseball and the Rangers are 10th. Irvin will face a Washington team that doesn’t strike out often. The Nats strikeout the 2nd least number of times per game in the Majors with 945 on the year in 4,274 at bats. Irvin is a lower volume pitcher with an average pitch count of 87.8 his last ten starts. We definitely like Under the number here for today’s baseball free play.

These two teams just squared off in Milwaukee last week with each winning two games. Lauer pitched a 4 hit, 2 earned run, 7 strikeouts gem in a loss. After having seen Lauer so recently we like the Dodgers hitters to have a leg up in this contest. The Dodgers are at home and off a home series, so they have plenty of time to prepare for Lauer and his pitching tendencies. Lauer averages 5.1 strikeouts per game on the season and has thrown 5 or less K’s in 5 of his last six starts. The Dodgers rank 13th in strikeouts per game this season and should see the ball well tonight, having faced Lauer recently. ASA MLB free bets or player prop: OVER 5.5 STRIKEOUTS Shane Bieber – Cleveland Guardians vs Chicago White Sox, 6:10PM ET

ASA MLB free bets for August 20th. In his last ten starts, Bieber is averaging 6.5 K’s per game. He has been especially good of late with 30 K’s in his last four starts. His pitch-count is typically in the high 90’s so he’ll get plenty of opportunities today in this MLB game. Bieber has a high strikeout to innings pitched ratio in his career and currently sits at 140 K’s in 138.7 innings this season. The White Sox are 7th best in baseball in the fewest strikeouts per game at (7.90). If we look at recent results though this lineup has struggled in August. In the last 15-days the White Sox have struck out 118 times in 476 plate appearances. That is 10th most in the league over that stretch of MLB games. In their last ten games against righties, they have averaged 6.6 K’s per game. Clearly, we have favorable trends working in our favor here with a hot pitcher and a team swinging and missing. ASA NFL free pick Packers vs. Saints, Friday 8PM ET

NFL free pick Green Bay Packers -3 vs. New Orleans Saints

ASA has you covered with a free NFL pick on Friday evening when the Saints and Packers meet in Green Bay. The Packers offense looked much better than the Saints in the opening game, the defenses were about even. Green Bay’s offense will be the difference in this game.

The Packers had over 430-yards of total offense last week  at 6.6 YPPL against a very good 49ers defense. They turned the ball over too many times though which cost them dearly.  QB Jordan Love was 13/24 for 176 passing yards with 2 TD’s but also threw 3 INT’s. Two of those picks were basically on his WR’s. The running game was solid with RB Tyler Goodson who ran for 37 yards on 12 carries.

The Packer defense is going to be improved this season and had a tremendous week of practice against the Saints. Last week, Green Bay’s defense held the Niners to just 328 total yards (6.07 YPPL).

The Saints QB’s Ian Book and Andy Dalton didn’t show much in their preseason opener with 140 yards passing against a bad Texans defense in the opener.

The Saints running game struggled with 3.5-Yards per Carry or 130YDS on 37 touches. Overall, the Saints offense mustered just 270 total yards against a Texans defense that was 23rd in Defensive efficiency a year ago.

The Saints defense played well allowing just 275 total yards or 5.18YPPL last week but that came against a Texans offense that isn’t very good.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur is on an 0-4 SU preseason run but should snap that streak with a winning football bet here.

This is the Packers only home game and they are off a loss in San Francisco so expect a little extra motivation here and a win by more than 3-points.
