·         Bills head coach has publicly stated he plans to play his starters for more than a quarter, so we know what to expect early on from Buffalo.

·         Buffalo head coach McDermott has a stellar preseason record of 12-5-1 ATS. He clearly has set a precedent for winning exhibition games.

·         The Bills are again a contender to win it all in 2023-24 and have a deep roster. Buffalo was a top offensive and defensive team a season ago ranking 2nd in total yards per game and 7th in YPG allowed.

·         Pittsburgh had solid defensive statistics a year ago ranking 12th in total DVOA but did give up 5.5 Yards Per Play which rank 20th.

·         The Steelers offense was 18th in offensive DVOA overall and lacked explosiveness, ranking near the bottom of the league in Yards Per Play at 4.9 (27th).

·         We feel this game will be a tale of two halves with the Bills winning the first half and depending on how it plays out, we would consider a bet on the Steelers in the 2nd half. Pittsburgh has a better late game QB situation with Rudolph and Trubisky fighting for the second spot behind Pickett.

The lack of production over the weekend for Philadelphia was shocking, scoring just one run Saturday and Sunday in losses at home following a run of ten straight games with at least four runs. The Phillies have still averaged 5.6 runs per game in August while +23 in scoring as this is an elite NL contender that has a chance to repeat as NL champions, even if will again have to come through a wild card path. Philadelphia is 40-22 since June 3 and Zack Wheeler remains one of the best pitchers in the NL. His FIP of 3.06 is the fourth best in all of MLB among qualified starters even if he isn’t getting much attention in the Cy Young race, after finishing second in 2021 for the award. Yusei Kikuchi is having his best MLB season, but his FIP is 4.52 compared to his 3.53 ERA as a lot has gone right. His home run rate remains very high and while his run of starts since the All-Star break has been excellent, it seems like a significant outlier stretch against his career numbers. The Blue Jays do have excellent relief pitching numbers in recent weeks, but the unit was taxed over the weekend getting only one start of six innings over the past four games. In the past 10 games Philadelphia has averaged 7.8 runs per nine while batting .277 vs. left-handers, while posting a 21-16 record on the season vs. left-handed starters as this should be a favorable matchup for the Phillies to deliver, after being shutdown by quality right-handers over the weekend. The Blue Jays are just 34-42 vs. winning teams this season as Toronto hasn’t looked like the serious contender most expected to see this season.

TOP 3 FINISH – #12 RYAN BLANEY – +$280 – We expect the #12 Ford and Blaney to be in contention for a win today in Michigan for several good reasons. A Ford has won on this track the last 8 races with Blaney capturing the Checkered flag in 2021. In last season’s race at Michigan Speedway Blaney finished 5th overall with Ford’s finishing with 3 cars in the top 5 overall. Blaney has four Top 3 finishes this season including a win in Charlotte earlier this season. The #12 is 6th overall on the season in laps led and this car has been especially fast with this specific tire setup this season. Our money is on Blaney to have a great race today.

TOP 10 FINISH – #20 Christopher Bell – -$180 – Bell in the Joe Gibb’s Toyota grabbed the pole for Sunday’s Cup race and is in a strong position for a Top 10 finish. Bell had a top speed of 193.282mpg in qualifying while covering the 2-mile track in just 37.232 seconds. Bell has been especially good at this track/car setup which was evident in the qualifier. Last year he started 2nd at Michigan Speedway, led for 31 laps but finished 26th after a wreck. In 22 races this season, Bell has finished Top 10 eleven times which is tied for 3rd most. He’s a bit of a chalk here but we like him in this scenario for a Top 10.

FREE BET IN MLB Texas Rangers vs. Tampa Bay Rays

ASA Free Play Wednesday MLB Texas Rangers -105 over Tampa Bay Rays at 2:05 ET – The Rays are slumping and the Rangers are tough at home plus Texas has a pitching edge here with Jon Gray on the mound. Gray has a 3.45 ERA this season and has held batters to a .229 batting average after also holding hitters to a .222 batting average last season. The Rays are going with a bullpen game here and Tampa Bay has lost 10 of 13 games. The Rangers struggled to close out the first half of the season but are now 5-0 since the All-Star break and all signs point to 6 in a row right here. Consider Texas for a Wednesday afternoon investment on the money line.

Nascar predictions | Quaker State 400 | Atlanta Motor Speedway

ASA has a few Nascar wagers to make on Sunday, July 9th.

NASCAR is heading to Atlanta Speedway this weekend for the Quaker State 400. This track has undergone some reconstruction this season with new pavement and higher banked turns. The other big change was the narrowing of the straights which makes for much tighter racing conditions. Last week Nascar had a shocker when Shane Van Gisbergen won the street race in Chicago in his debut on the Cup series. We expect to see some familiar faces back in the front of the pack on the Atlanta Motor Speedway this Sunday.

TOP 10 – #2 Austin Cindric +$125 – You will see a reoccurring theme with our Nascar bets this week and that’s the support of Fords. This will be the second race run at Atlanta Motor Speedway this season and in the first race here Fords finished 1st, 2nd 7th and 11th. In four career Cup races in Atlanta, Cindric for the Roger Penske team, has a pair of solid runs with a 3rd and 11th place finish. The benefit for Cindric this weekend is strong support from his Penske teammates who should have strong showings on this large quad -oval Speedway.

RACE WINNER – #12 Ryan Blaney +$1200 – In our opinion, Blaney is a fantastic longshot this weekend to win in Atlanta. The Ford’s ran extremely well on this track earlier this race season with four cars in the top 11. One of those drivers was Ryan Blaney who finished 7th for the Roger Penske team. The #12 with Blaney behind the wheel has 5 top 10’s on this track, 4 top 5’s and a win in 2021. Blaney also had a dominating win earlier this season in Charlotte, where he led for 163 laps, which is a similar track to Atlanta’s. I’ll also have Blaney as a Top 3 finisher at +$320.

TOP 3 – #6 Brad Keselowski +$400 – Keselowski had a 2nd place finish here earlier this year and ran 1st for 47 laps which was second most behind Joey Logano. The #6 car and Keselowski have yet to win a race this season, but he does have 3 top 5 finishes and 6 top 10’s. The Atlanta track has a redesign, but Keselowski has 17 Cup races here with 10 top 10’s. Keselowski has raced 250 times on a 1-2 mile Speedway in his career and has 18 wins, 72 top 5’s and 129 top 10’s. The Ford’s have an aerodynamic advantage here and we like the #6 car to be in the running all race long.
