ACC Virginia Tech Hokies Prediction 2026

Acc Virgina Tech prediction

ASA’s ACC Sleeper Team in 2026: Virginia Tech Hokies Prediction

The ACC is deeper and more unbalanced than it used to be: 17 football programs, a new nine-game league slate for most of them, and several rebuilt staffs chasing the same bowl spots. Miami, Clemson, and SMU will get the preseason headlines. Virginia Tech is the team ASA likes as the sleeper.

James Franklin is in Blacksburg after his Penn State run. He brought a proven fill-in quarterback, kept a large chunk of the Hokies’ two-deep, and patched the rest with a top-25 transfer class. ASA’s power ratings have Tech comfortably favored in five games (by six or more points) and sitting near a pick’em in four others. If last year’s turnover problem is cleaned up, a bowl trip is the floor.

2026 ACC Football Teams

The ACC remains a 17-team football league in 2026. Notre Dame continues its ACC scheduling partnership but is not a full football member.

  • Boston College Eagles
  • California Golden Bears
  • Clemson Tigers
  • Duke Blue Devils
  • Florida State Seminoles
  • Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
  • Louisville Cardinals
  • Miami Hurricanes
  • North Carolina Tar Heels
  • NC State Wolfpack
  • Pitt Panthers
  • SMU Mustangs
  • Stanford Cardinal
  • Syracuse Orange
  • Virginia Cavaliers
  • Virginia Tech Hokies
  • Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Virginia Tech Hokies Betting Prediction

Virginia Tech made the splash hire of the ACC cycle by bringing in James Franklin, the former Penn State head coach. Franklin did not arrive empty-handed. Quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer followed him from State College after filling in when Drew Allar went down last season. Grunkemeyer led the Nittany Lions to four wins in five starts, with the only loss a three-point defeat to national champion Indiana in a game Penn State outgained the Hoosiers. He completed 69.1% of his passes for 1,339 yards, eight touchdowns, and four interceptions. He is now Virginia Tech’s named starter.

RETURNING STARTERS

Continuity is the other half of the sleeper case. The Hokies return 14 starters, tied for the second-most in the country. Franklin then filled the holes with a solid top-25 transfer portal haul that included several former Penn State pieces on both lines and at skill positions. Combine returning starters with imported snaps and Virginia Tech ranks in the top 25 nationally in overall experience. That is a different profile than a typical Year 1 rebuild.

SCHEDULE HELP

The schedule helps. ASA has Virginia Tech’s strength of schedule outside the top 40. They open with VMI, then move into an ACC slate that is demanding but not brutal every week. Our power ratings currently have the Hokies comfortably favored in five games (-6 or better) and essentially a coin flip in four more. That is a bowl path if they play clean football.

TURNOVER ISSUES

The caution flag is real. Last year’s team ranked 120th in turnover margin, and that alone can wipe out talent and coaching upgrades. Franklin’s staffs have generally been sharper in that area. If Tech stops giving games away, the talent and experience are already in place to get back to six or seven wins.

Why ASA likes them as the ACC sleeper

A Power Four coach with a known quarterback, 14 returning starters, a top-25 portal class, top-25 overall snap experience, and a schedule that is not loaded with landmines. That is how a 3-9 program becomes a bowl team in one offseason. The Hokies are not the ACC favorite. They are the team most likely to beat the preseason projection.Check ASAwins.com for updated ACC power ratings, weekly picks, and betting analysis as the season starts.

Oklahoma State Cowboys 2026 Big 12 prediction

Big 12 Sleeper 2026

Oklahoma State Cowboys 2026: Why ASA Picks OSU as the Big 12 Prediction

Oklahoma State CowboysCollege football’s most chaotic conference is back with 16 teams, nine league games each, and plenty of room for a team nobody is talking about in August to wreck November. After a 1-11 collapse in 2025, the Oklahoma State Cowboys are that team. Notably, the Oklahoma State Cowboys 2026: Why ASA Picks OSU as the Big 12 Sleeper storyline is already picking up steam among analysts.

ASA’s power ratings have the Cowboys favored in seven of their 12 games. They face only two opponents currently inside our top 30 (Oregon and Texas Tech). A new coach is on the sidelines. Additionally, they have a top-shelf transfer quarterback and one of the most experienced (if brand-new) rosters in the country. This makes Stillwater the most interesting rebuild in the Big 12. Furthermore, it is evidence for Oklahoma State Cowboys 2026: Why ASA Picks OSU as the Big 12 Sleeper to be on every preview list this season.

2026 Big 12 Football Teams

The Big 12 remains a 16-team league in 2026 with no membership changes.

  • Arizona Wildcats
  • Arizona State Sun Devils
  • Baylor Bears
  • BYU Cougars
  • Cincinnati Bearcats
  • Colorado Buffaloes
  • Houston Cougars
  • Iowa State Cyclones
  • Kansas Jayhawks
  • Kansas State Wildcats
  • Oklahoma State Cowboys
  • TCU Horned Frogs
  • Texas Tech Red Raiders
  • UCF Knights
  • Utah Utes
  • West Virginia Mountaineers

Texas Tech and BYU enter as the consensus favorites after last season’s championship game. Houston and Utah sit in the next tier. Oklahoma State is the team that can jump from afterthought to bowl favorite—or higher—if Year 1 under Eric Morris pans out. As you can see, Oklahoma State Cowboys 2026: Why ASA Picks OSU as the Big 12 Sleeper is a question on the minds of many fans and media alike.

Oklahoma State Cowboys Prediction

Oklahoma State fired legendary head coach Mike Gundy during a disastrous 1-11 campaign and turned to North Texas head coach Eric Morris. Morris just finished 12-2 with the Mean Green and was widely viewed as one of the best hires of the cycle. Analysts including Bill Connelly flagged the move as a high-upside fit; we agree.

COACHING

Morris brought his offense with him. The centerpiece is quarterback Drew Mestemaker, who followed his coach from Denton to Stillwater. As a redshirt freshman at North Texas, Mestemaker threw for 4,379 yards and 34 touchdowns. He led the FBS in passing yards and won American Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors. He is already drawing preseason All-Big 12 attention and Newcomer of the Year buzz.

ROSTER IMPROVEMENTS

The roster overhaul was massive. Morris added 50-plus transfers (sources range from the mid-50s to the mid-60s depending on counting method), including a large contingent of former North Texas players. 247Sports ranked the haul among the top 15 nationally and No. 2 in the Big 12. The Cowboys return almost none of last year’s snaps—one of the lowest percentages in FBS. However, they imported so much proven production that their total career FBS experience ranks near the top of the country. In fact, there are roughly 18,000-plus snaps on the offensive side alone in some tallies, and top-five overall career snaps in CBS Sports’ roster study.

SKILL POSITIONS

That experience shows up in the skill positions. Running back Caleb Hawkins and wide receiver Wyatt Young also came from North Texas and earned preseason All-Big 12 notice. The offense should be explosive from Week 1. The defense is the question mark. Indeed, Morris’s North Texas units improved under coordinator Skyler Cassity, who followed him to Stillwater, but the Cowboys must prove they can stop Big 12 offenses after ranking near the bottom of the league a year ago. Chemistry on a roster with 80-plus new players will decide whether this is a six-win team or a nine-win surprise. Ultimately, the Oklahoma State Cowboys 2026: Why ASA Picks OSU as the Big 12 Sleeper discussion will depend on how Morris’s system and the new talent come together in conference play.

2026 schedule snapshot

Oklahoma State opens at Tulsa, hosts Oregon in Morris’s home debut, then plays Murray State before a critical conference opener at West Virginia. League games include home dates against UCF, Colorado, Texas Tech, and Kansas, plus road trips to Houston, Iowa State, Kansas State, and Arizona State. Missing BYU and Utah on the conference slate helps. The two games against current top-30 teams (Oregon and Texas Tech) are both at Boone Pickens Stadium.

ASA’s power ratings currently project the Cowboys as favorites in seven games. That lines up with several national projections that have them in the 8-4 to 9-3 range. This is true if the offense translates and the defense is merely average. Preseason media polls have them around ninth in the league—exactly where a sleeper lives.

If Mestemaker plays like the nation’s leading passer and Morris’s staff installs the system quickly, Oklahoma State will not finish ninth. The Cowboys have the pieces to contend for a bowl berth at minimum. They also have a surprise run at the top half of the Big 12 if a few results bounce their way. That’s why ASA has Oklahoma State as the Big 12 sleeper of 2026. In summary, Oklahoma State Cowboys 2026: Why ASA Picks OSU as the Big 12 Sleeper is rooted in their upside to quickly rebuild and surprise the conference this season.

Minnesota Lynx Lead as WNBA Championship Odds-On Favorites Heading Into the Playoffs

The 2026 WNBA regular season is in its final stretch. If you’re tracking the latest 2026 WNBA Championship Odds, all eight playoff teams are locked in, seeding remains fluid, and the championship futures market has a clear leader. The Minnesota Lynx sit as the odds-on favorite after posting the league’s best record and pairing Napheesa Collier with breakout rookie Olivia Miles.

This page breaks down the latest 2026 WNBA championship odds, current standings, team-by-team analysis, playoff format, and a data-backed prediction. Odds move with every game and injury update—always check live lines before betting.

Current 2026 WNBA Championship Odds

Odds as of late August 2026 (consensus from BetMGM, DraftKings, and other books). Implied probabilities are approximate.

TeamCurrent OddsImplied ChanceNotes
Minnesota Lynx-110 to -12552–56%Clear favorite
Las Vegas Aces+550 to +65013–15%Proven championship core
Golden State Valkyries+650 to +85011–13%Strong regular-season record
Indiana Fever+850 to +90010–11%High offensive upside
Atlanta Dream+850 to +90010–11%Balanced contender
New York Liberty+1300 to +14006–7%Health-limited season
Washington Mystics+6600 to +7000~1.4%Deep longshot
Dallas Wings+7500 to +8000~1.2%Young core, first playoff trip since 2023

Other teams are off the board after being eliminated. Prediction markets like Polymarket have shown similar rankings, with the Lynx around 45%.

The Lynx opened the season around +800 and became the favorite in late June. Their price shortened further after a dominant stretch that included winning 16 of 17 games at one point.

2026 WNBA Playoff Picture and StandingsThe top eight teams qualify regardless of conference. First-round matchups are 1 vs. 8, 2 vs. 7, 3 vs. 6, and 4 vs. 5.

Late-August standings (records varied slightly by exact date):

  • Minnesota Lynx: ~31-9
  • Golden State Valkyries: ~29-11
  • Las Vegas Aces: ~27-13
  • Atlanta Dream and Indiana Fever: 26-14
  • New York Liberty, Washington Mystics, Dallas Wings: fighting for the 6–8 seeds around 23-16 to 24-16

The Lynx have a strong hold on the No. 1 seed. Home-court advantage in the first round (best-of-3) and later rounds remains valuable. The regular season wraps around September 24; playoffs begin September 27. First round is best-of-3, semifinals best-of-5, and the Finals best-of-7.

Team-by-Team 2026 WNBA Championship Odds Outlook

Atlanta Dream

This team has decent overall ratings sitting 5th in offense and 4th in defense but they can’t shoot with the 11th worst eFG% in the league at 50.1%. Angel Reese is too concerned about her stats than winning and she doesn’t understand she’s the 3rd option offensively behind Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard. Reese – a post player – shoots 43.7% – 50th in the league. Team chemistry will be their undoing.

Indiana Fever

If you live in a bubble or have your head in the sand you won’t understand what we’re about to say next. Indiana can’t win because the powers that be, (WNBA, Cathy Engelburt) won’t allow this team to win and draw attention away from their gender/race narrative. The Fever have the pieces with Kelsey Mitchell – 2nd in scoring, Caitlin Clark – 3rd in scoring, 2nd in assists (both top 4 in 3PT’s made), Aliyah Boston – 10th in rebounds and Sophie Cunningham – 3rd 3PT%. Indiana has the best offensive numbers in the league, but their defense is 10th. Save your money.

THE OTHERS

New York has all the veteran pieces, but they may have peaked a few years ago and we may be looking at the end of a dynasty. The Liberty are closer to average in both offense and defense metrics than they are at the top of the league.

Washington has a roster full of first, or second-year players who are a year or two away from being serious contenders, plus their offense is 13 out of 15 teams in the league.

Dallas took a pretty big hit when rookie Azzi Fudd was lost for the season due to injury. Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale can only carry this team so far and it won’t be out of the 1st round.

That leaves…

Las Vegas Aces, Golden State Valkyries and the Minnesota Lynx as the only true contenders for the WNBA title this season.

LAS VEGAS ACES:

There is a reason the Aces have the second lowest odds to win it all this season despite sitting 3rd in the standings. The main reason is A’ja Wilson who continues to be the best player in the league, 1st in scoring at 26PPG, 3rd in rebounding at 9.4 and 1st in blocks p/game. The Aces also have Jackie Young, Chennedy Carter and Chelsea Gray who are all scoring in double figures.

A big loss for the postseason is going to be NaLyssa Smith who was 2nd on the team in rebounding.

The Aces don’t have great regular season statistics ranking 5th in Net rating but this is a team that can flip a switch and turn it on when they want to. Las Vegas is a very dangerous team with Championships in 3 of the last four seasons and we certainly wouldn’t be shocked if they won it all in 2026.

GOLDEN STATE VALKYRIES:

We really like how the Valkyries compete every game and think this team could provide a very serious challenge to the Lynx, especially considering they potentially won’t face the Lynx until the Finals.  Golden State has the 2nd best Net rating in the league at +9.4, just behind Minnesota at +9.5. To win a Championship you have to be good on the road and the Valkyries are with a 14-6 SU record and an average plus/minus of +7.3PPG on the season. They have a great defense, but their offense may let them down in the playoffs as they rank 7th overall and have an eFG% of 50.3% which ranks 10th. This is certainly a team to watch, but without enough playoff experience on their roster they will come up short in the end.

MINNESOTA LYNX:

The Lynx are the favorites for a reason as they are the best team in the league. I find it funny that nobody talks about Napheesa Collier, who’s been a serious MVP candidate the past few years, averaging 18PPG and 7.3RPG since coming back from injury, and only talks about rookie sensation Olivia Miles.

Miles deserves all the praise she gets as she’s quickly becoming one of the best players in the league, but Collier is the center piece of this team. Miles will certainly win rookie of the year honors and is in the running for league MVP, which is kind of a joke considering her numbers aren’t as good as Caitlyn Clarks, Kelsey Mitchell or A’ja Wilson.

Regardless, this Lynx team has the 2nd best eFG% (54.8%) in the W, behind only the Fever at 56.7%. They have the best overall Net rating at +9.5 and have put together a dominating season with an average scoring differential of +7.9PPG. Minnesota has great scoring balance with 5 players averaging 14 or more points and have a defense that allows just 1.044-points per possession (3rd). The Lynx are going to have home court advantage throughout the playoffs, barring a disaster in the final 4-games of the regular season, and there isn’t a tougher place to win than Minnesota. The Lynx are 57-15 SU on their home court since 2024 and they’ve won by an average of +9.2PPG, both best in the league.

2026 WNBA Championship Odds Prediction

The Minnesota Lynx are the most likely champion. Their combination of regular-season dominance, two-way star power (Collier + Miles), coaching, and home-court potential makes them the safest pick. The Aces remain the most credible threat because of Wilson and playoff experience. The Valkyries and Fever have realistic paths if the Lynx slip or if matchups break their way.

Best value looks at this snapshot: Aces at +600 or longer if you believe in their championship DNA, or Fever at +900+ for offensive firepower.

Avoid overpaying for the Lynx at shorter than -110 unless you want the highest-probability play.

Odds and projections can diverge. Betting markets currently price the Lynx higher than some statistical models that split the top two more evenly.
