College Football Free Pick: Eastern Michigan vs Sacramento State

college free pick Eastern Michigan vs Sacramento State

Eastern Michigan (-9.5) over Sacramento St, Saturday at 6:30 PM ET

Today’s college football free pick for Saturday, August 29th. Sacramento State makes the jump from FCS to FBS this season. It starts with a long road trip to Michigan. Speaking of long road trips. Sac St is now in the MAC. Therefore, long road trips will be the norm for this team. This is something we’ll have to track as the year progresses. For those seeking a College Football Free Pick: Eastern Michigan -9.5 vs Sacramento State is attracting attention opening weekend.

SACRAMENTO STATE STEPPING UP IN CLASS

Not only are the Hornets taking a big step up in competition, they are also going through a transition to a new head coach. This is their 3rd in 3 years. Alonzo Carter takes over the helm after coming over from Arizona where he was the RB’s coach. Carter has never been a head coach. In contrast, he is taking on EMU’s head man Chris Creighton who has coached well over 300 games at the FBS level. In the context of College Football Free Pick: Eastern Michigan -9.5 vs Sacramento State, coaching stability could be a key difference.

EAGLES EXPERIENCE

The Eagles have a veteran team coming back ranking 24th nationally in returning production. This includes QB Kim (2,800 yards and 18 TD’s last year) who is one of the top few signal callers in the MAC.

HORNETS REBUILD MODE

On the other side, Sac St is in full rebuild mode ranking 131st in returning production. Their offensive line is very young ranking 133rd in career starts. Furthermore, the offense as a whole has just 1 returning starter and lost their QB, top 5 rushers, and 3 of their top 4 pass catchers. They have 73 brand new players in the program entering this year. Therefore, this team will struggle early in the season as they try and build some chemistry.

LINE MOVEMENT

This line opened closer to -7 but we still think EMU is worth a look. However, we wouldn’t lay over 10 in this game if it does jump up. While we’re a bit apprehensive laying significant points with Eastern Michigan, this is a really solid spot for the Eagles in their home opener vs a decimated team stepping up in class. To sum up, the College Football Free Pick: Eastern Michigan -9.5 vs Sacramento State provides value based on the current matchup dynamics.

College Football Handicapping: Finding Value with Home & Road Ratings

college football home field ratings

College Football Home field advantage isn’t all the same.

When it comes to college football handicapping, most bettors look at a team’s overall power rating and move on to the point spread. But there’s another question J’s Plays believes you should be asking:

Where does that team perform best—at home or on the road?

That distinction can uncover value that a basic power rating misses. In college football handicapping, recognizing these differences is crucial for finding value.

A team may have an overall power rating of +20, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it plays like a +20 team everywhere. Some teams are significantly better at home, while others have proven they can travel and perform at nearly the same level. For this reason, smart college football handicapping requires digging deeper than basic stats.

Home-field advantage is real in college football, and research generally puts the average value around 2.5–2.6 points. But that’s an average—not a rule. Individual stadiums, travel demands, crowd environments and team-specific performance can make the number considerably different from one matchup to another.

That’s why J’s Plays looks at separate home and road power ratings.

For example, suppose Team A has a +25 overall rating but plays like a +29 team at home and a +20 team on the road. Team B might have a +21 overall rating but play like a +23 team at home and +22 on the road. This is the type of detail college football handicapping should always consider.

If those teams meet at Team A’s stadium, the overall ratings suggest a four-point difference. But the location-specific numbers tell a very different story.

That’s where the value can be.

We’re not ignoring the point spread. We’re asking whether the spread accurately reflects where the game is being played and how each team actually performs in that environment.

Every week, Where’s the Value? will look beyond the obvious numbers and search for those discrepancies in college football handicapping matchups.

Because finding winners isn’t just about knowing who’s better.

It’s about knowing when the number is wrong.

That’s where J’s Plays looks for value.

WNBA Free Pick: Fever at Sky – Aug 23 2026

ASAwins smashing the WNBA again this year. 31-18 Streak going into today. Enjoy this free pick today then be in touch for a SPECIAL OFFER for the rest of the season.

ASA 3* WNBA Play on UNDER 186.5 Indiana Fever at Chicago Sky, 7pm ET

We obviously had UNDER in the Fever game yesterday and lost when the Liberty and Fever combined for 211 total points. But there were some outliers in that game as the Fever shot 57% overall and 42% from deep, both numbers significantly better than their season averages of 48.8% and 39%. The same can be said for the Liberty who hit 58% and 41% (ssn aves 46.6%, 35.2%). The pace or field goal attempts suggest that final score should have been in the low 180’s based on season shooting percentages. The oddsmakers are suggesting Chicago is similar to New York with an O/U number that is nearly identical to yesterday’s Fever/Liberty game. The Sky aren’t close to the Liberty offensively and have the exact same defensive rating so this number is higher than it should be. Also, factor in the Fever’s schedule. They are playing the second day of a back-to-back and 5th straight road game so how much energy are they going to have here. In the last ten meetings between these two teams only one has finished with more than 186 total points. The last time they met on this court they totaled 176. Chicago is the best 3PT% defense in the league and 5th in FG% allowed overall. The Sky’s offensive problems stem from a poor shooting offense that is 11th in both FG% and 3PT%. We are backing the UNDER in this one.

nfl free pick Giants vs Dolphins

NFL FREE pick Giants vs Dolphins

: #421 ASA FREE PLAY ON NY Giants -3 over Miami Dolphins, Saturday at 4 PM ET. For those looking for an nfl free pick Giants vs Dolphins, this matchup should be intriguing.

Both of these teams lost their preseason openers and the offenses struggled.  Miami was only able to score once in a 20-7 loss vs Washington. Meanwhile, the Giants lost 13-10 vs Minnesota.  NY traveled to Miami earlier this week. The 2 teams had a joint practice on Thursday.  This is a key indicator when you analyze the NFL showdown and are looking for a solid free pick Giants vs Dolphins.

New York Giants vs Miami Dolphins joint practice

The Giants dominated that practice especially in the trenches.  It was reported that the Miami offense did very little and their QB’s were under constant pressure as the offensive line could not handle NY’s defensive front. This is important when considering an nfl free pick Giants vs Dolphins. This is because line play can decide preseason games.

Miami weather

Normally we’d say the heat and humidity would favor the Fins. However, the Thursday joint practice was hot and humid and the Giants still dominated.  After the practice NYG head coach John Harbaugh was pleased with how his team “held up” in the heat.   “I think our guys are in great shape and they had no problem with it,” said Harbaugh. “Our guys – we were strong at the end of practice. We were getting stronger through the practice. I saw that, really, from every single player on the field.”  But regarding nft free pick, Giants vs Dolphins weather does not give either side a real advantage here.

QB rotations

Many times when teams face off in a joint practice, some of the key players, including QB’s, will sit during the game.  This one could start out with NYG Jameis Winston at QB vs Miami’s Cam Miller (a 2nd year player from North Dakota State). The Fins back up Quinn Ewers is banged up. Therefore, that gives NY the edge early offensively before the 3rd and 4th stringers enter the game. It looks like they’ll control the line of scrimmage based on what happened on Thursday in practice. Speaking of preseason value, for your next nfl free pick Giants vs Dolphins, factor in the quarterback depth on both sides.

NY Giants power running

The Giants want to be a power run FB team. They should be able to gain some traction in this game vs a Miami defense that allowed 174 yards rushing vs the Commanders last week.  Harbaugh has shown he wants to win in the preseason with an impressive 47-17 SU and 42-22 ATS in his career.  As expert picks go, this context matters tremendously for your NFL free pick Giants vs Dolphins decision.

Giants -3 free play to cover

Coming off a rare loss for him last week, we like the Giants to win and cover this one on Saturday afternoon. Additionally, if you’re searching for an nfl prreseason free pick Giants vs Dolphins, this analysis supports the play on the Giants.
