WNBA action Wednesday

ASA 4* WNBA play on OVER 169.5 Minnesota Lynx at Washington Mystics, 7:30pm ET

These same two teams just met in Minneapolis on Sunday in a game that produced 163 total points and stayed UNDER the number of 169.5. The biggest outlier in that game was the Lynx’s poor shooting from beyond the arc at 19% or 4/21. Minnesota is the best 3PT shooting team in the league at 38% and the Mystics defense is below average defending the 3-point line at 34.3% 3PT% allowed. Had the Lynx made just 3 more 3PT’ers in the last meeting that game goes OVER. Minnesota should respond tonight after their home upset loss to this Mystics team and will be out to send a message against this young Washington club. The Lynx average 91.5PPG on the season with the highest eFG% in the WNBA at 55.2%. Washington has exceeded their season scoring average in the last three games with totals of 88, 86 and 84-points and two of those three games came against the two best defenses in the league (Lynx and Liberty). This game gets into the mid-170’s. Bet OVER!

FIFA World Cup #225218 ASA PLAY ON 4* Czech Republic +0.5 (-110) over Mexico, Wednesday at 9 ET

We expect Czech Republic to come up big with an upset win here in this ‘must win spot’ and, in terms of line value, we like the fact that a draw would also be a win since the goal line is at +0.5 goals for them in this one.  The big key here is that we have line value because Mexico is off a fortunate 1-0 win over South Korea.  Mexico is now 2-0 in the tournament thus far and they can settle for a draw here and could rotate some players in this one.  They are already looking ahead to the next round.  Conversely, Czech Republic needs the win here. They lost to South Korea 2-1 and had a 1-1 draw with South Africa.  They are all in on this match as nothing less than a victory will help Czech Republic here.  They did score first in the loss to South Korea and they also led the match with South Africa 1-0 from the 6′ mark until the 83′ mark.  The point is that they have been on the cusp of victory in both matches yet ended up 0-1-1 and this is the perfect set up against an already content Mexico side.  This is particularly true when you consider that Mexico is off a truly fortunate win against South Korea.  This has led to strong line value here as Mexico would be fine with a draw here and a draw also cashes our ticket on this one.  We will take the Czech Republic on the goal line (+0.5) Wednesday.

#901/902 ASA PLAY ON 4* Over 9.5 Runs – Philadelphia at Washington, Wednesday at 6:45 PM ET

The Phillies had a great 9th inning 2-out rally yesterday and went on to notch a big 14-9 win.  Prior to the wild 9th inning the game already had 14 runs on the board and we expect more of the same today.  Miles Mikolas is expected to be the starter here and even if the Nationals went with an opener they would likely use Mikolas for the bulk of the work today.  He has made 6 starts this season and has gone 1-3 with an 8.28 ERA as a starter.  For the Phillies, Aaron Nola is expected to toe the rubber in this one.  Nola continues the inconsistent results which have plagued him in recent seasons.  Nola has been getting hit hard again in recent starts with 19 hits and 7 walks in his last 3 starts and those outings totaled only 14 innings.  In other words, he is giving up nearly 2 baserunners per inning and he has had a number of cycles like this already this season where he gets into a struggling stretch and the opponents capitalize.  After registering a 6.01 ERA last season he has a 5.71 ERA this season and the Nationals have a number of hitters with plenty of experience against Nola.  Likewise, the Phillies lineup is loaded with guys with lots of experience against Mikolas.  Neither pitcher is likely to enjoy much success here Wednesday and note that the bullpens allowed a combined 16 earned runs yesterday (that is even counting Littell as a starter because Nats used opener).  On the season the Nationals bullpen ranks near the bottom of the majors for ERA and the Phillies rank only in the middle of the pack.  The way both teams were swinging the bats yesterday also, all the factors add up to the perfect recipe for another easy over here on Wednesday!
