#632 ASA College Basketball Free PLAY ON North Dakota State -4 over Cal State Northridge (CSUN), Tuesday at 8 PM ET

This line opened NDSU +1 and now they are -4.  It was going to be a rated play at +1 but at -4 it’s now just an opinion.

CSUN is in a bad situational spot here playing their 3rd road game in 6 days.  They played @ Northern Iowa last Thursday (lost by 29 points), then played @ North Dakota on Sunday (won by 8) and now @ North Dakota State tonight.  CSUN is 2-1 on the season and probably ready to get back home to California after being gone for a full week (left last Wednesday).  The Matadors are coming off a 93-85 win @ North Dakota Sunday which wasn’t overly impressive.  UND is ranked as the worst team in the Summit League, basically tied with UMKC (per KenPom) and the 324th best team in the country.  The Fighting Hawks were just 12-21 last season and only won 5 Summit League games.  Now CSUN, just 48 hours later, faces one of the top teams in the Summit (NDSU rated 3rd best team in the league) and the Bison will be hungry for a win after starting the season 0-2 losing @ Oregon State by 2 and @ UC Davis by 12.  This will be their first home game of the season and unlike CSUN, they’ve had a full week off to get ready for this one.  After 2 games, the Bison are shooting just 15% from beyond the arc and we’d expect them to shoot much better at home tonight.  This team led the NATION in 3 point shooting last year hitting 40% of their triples so positive regression is likely tonight.  NDSU should get plenty of extra possessions on Tuesday as CSUN has been a turnover machine this year coughing it up on over 24% of their possessions while the Bison create turnovers on 22% of their defensive possessions.  NDSU, on the other hand, has done a nice job of taking care of the ball with just a 14% turnover rate.  They should also control the boards as they rank in the top 70 in both offensive and defensive rebounding while CSUN is outside the top 300 in both of those this season.  We like the hungry Bison to get this win at home.

Free College Basketball Bet | 3-9-24 | Wake Forest vs Clemson

#688 ASA PLAY ON Wake Forest -3.5 over Clemson, Saturday at 6 PM ET

Free college bet today from ASA. An absolute must win here for Wake at home and they are squarely on the bubble and out right now by most bracketologists.  A loss here would most likely end their dreams of getting invited to the Big Dance.  Add to that the fact the Demon Deacons are off a home loss, their first home loss of the season, and we love this situation.

The Deacs are 15-1 at home (12-4-1 ATS) with a win over Duke included, and their 1 point loss at home on Tuesday vs Georgia Tech was their worst performance of the season so we look for a strong bounce back performance.  They shot just 42% in that game (they average 51% at home) and made only 25% of their 3’s (they average 42% from deep at home).  They have a PPG margin of +18 at home this season.

The Tigers have been winning (7-2 last 9 games) but only 1 of their last 8 games have come against a team ranked in the top 8 in the conference.  They’ve played the 2nd easiest SOS in the ACC this season yet their adjusted efficiency margins are lower than Wake who has played the tougher league slate.  WF has lost 3 straight games since topping Duke here and that’s giving us some value as they are laying basically the same number vs Clemson (-3) as they were vs the Blue Devils.  In a must win spot we like Wake who has been nearly unbeatable at home as today’s free bet.

Free College Basketball Bet | 2/15/24 | Rutgers vs Northwestern

#718 ASA PLAY ON Rutgers vs Northwestern Prediction, Thursday at 6:30 PM ET

ASA BET: RUTGERS -3.5 vs Northwestern – Rutgers is peaking right now to say the least having won 3 in a row, 2 of those wins on the road, and in their most recent game on Saturday they rolled Wisconsin, one of the top teams in the Big 10, by 22 points.

Much of that has been their outstanding defense holding 3 straight opponents to less than 60 points and all scored fewer than 0.87 PPP, but the offense received a boost as well.  That’s because Temple transfer, Jeremiah Williams, finally was on the court the last 3 games after missing the first 20 games of the season.  Williams has scored 42 points, grabbed 16 board, and had 9 assists in those 3 wins giving them a huge offensive boost.

If the offense continues to improve, watch out.  They should play well in this one vs a NW defense that has struggled all year ranking dead last in the Big 10 in eFG% allowed.  The Rutgers defense ranks 2nd nationally in efficiency and have allowed opponents to shoot only 36% at home while giving up only 60 PPG.

They are catching Northwestern in a bad spot.  The Cats are off back to back home wins vs Nebraska & Penn State, however this team has been flat out poor on the road with a 1-5 SU record with their only road win coming @ PSU by 4 points in a game the Nittany Lions blew and 2nd half double digit lead.  On top of that, NW will be playing without one of their key starters, Ty Berry, who injured his knew 2 games ago vs Nebraska and is now out of the season.  He is their top 3 point shooter and averages 12 PPG.  He would also be key in this game vs the Rutgers full court pressure so his absence will be a problem here.

We feel the Scarlet Knights will be a problem for a number of teams down the stretch and call for a home win and cover on Thursday night. ASA’s Free College Basketball Bet for Thursday, February 14th.
