Auburn has won four in a row in this series including three straight wins in Oxford. Both teams enter this game off disappointing losses and both teams have been outscored in SEC play so far. Both Auburn losses have been road games but last week’s defeat can be pinned on turnovers as the Tigers dominated the box score. The same can be said for Mississippi with seven giveaways last week to fall to Arkansas. Mississippi’s defense offers plenty of concerns, particularly against the run allowing 6.2 yards per rush this season while Auburn has credible defensive numbers despite allowing some scoring this season. Auburn had a 507-266 production edge last season hosting this contest despite a six-point final score and the Tigers had a similar edge last week despite losing to South Carolina. The Auburn defense should have a clear edge in this game with a high quality secondary and the offensive line challenges for Auburn aren’t likely to be a factor in this matchup as Auburn should be able to run the ball with ease in this matchup. Bo Nix has taken a lot of heat of his lack of accuracy and he is coming off one of his worst games. He still has an NFL receiver to work with and the Tigers should be able to control the pace of this game to take pressure off Nix and the passing game. Mississippi was able to post big numbers against every opponent including Alabama and the defense has played a strong group of opposing quarterbacks. Gus Malzahn and Auburn are on a 17-2 S/U and 12-6 ATS run following a loss since November 2015 and this is a severely discounted price compared to where this line projected before the season.
